"I am an experienced classroom English teacher and college Composition, Literature, and Study Skills instructor. For 20+ years, I successfully built my teaching expertise with secondary and college students.

My students have possessed a wide variety of skills, interests, and needs, from Advanced Placement and Honors classes to Basic Skills and Remedial classes. I try to instill in each student the confidence and knowledge that they can achieve in writing well and developing their thinking skills.

My BA in English and Theater is from Coe College, and I hold a MA in English, focused on Rhetoric and the Teaching of Writing, from Colorado University Denver. This school year is my second year volunteer-tutoring with the Literary Arts College Essay Exchange in Portland, Oregon. Together, we work to improve student college admissions essays.

Services include individual writing tutoring; individual study skills tutoring; and individual college admissions essay coaching. I accept secondary students, college students, and adults. I gladly focus on each student’s performance and their journey toward becoming a more authentic learner.

I aim for proof of students understanding a subject and making a sustainable change toward understanding its relevance in today’s world. When students pursue both actions simultaneously, they take more responsibility for reaching their goals and their potential.
