"I am a former secondary classroom English teacher and college Composition, Literature, and Study Skills instructor, bringing to Our Writing Table on the Wyzant platform over 20 years of experience. My students have had a wide variety of skills, interests, and needs: I’ve helped to instill in them the confidence that can be achieved in self-expression. My BA is in English and Theater from Coe College, and I hold a MA in English (focused on Rhetoric and the Teaching of Writing) from Colorado University Denver. This school year is my second year volunteer-tutoring with the Literary Arts College Essay Exchange in Portland, Oregon. Together, we work to improve student college admissions essays.

Our Writing Table offers one-to-one writing tutoring; one-to-one study skills tutoring; and college admissions essay coaching. I tutor secondary students, college students, and adults. I believe I am responsible for focusing on each student’s performance and their journey toward becoming a more authentic learner. I aim for proof of their understanding a subject and making a sustainable change toward understanding its relevance in today’s world. When students pursue both actions simultaneously, they take more responsibility for reaching their goals and their potential.
