"I earned a 99th percentile score on the GMAT and 98th percentile on the SAT. I earned a 3.99 GPA during MBA coursework and tutored Finance, Corporate Valuation, Accounting, and Statistics for full-time and executive MBAs at Vanderbilt. In addition to tutoring during my MBA program, I taught large-group recitations for Finance and Statistics, helping students to understand the material given by the professors in lecture.

I have real-world Corporate Finance experience working as an investment banker at a top-rated M&A firm, but I have always found teaching to be the most rewarding professional experience of my life. After receiving instructor training, I taught leadership and tactics courses for post-college new officers at the US Army’s Armor School. In the three years I served in that role, I was promoted to senior instructor and awarded top instructor honors multiple times.

The process of growth from seeing to doing, to knowing, to understanding is the most important part of life. I enjoy watching students pass from one end of the spectrum to the other and am honored to play a small part in that progress. Learning happens best when students are comfortable and interested, and my teaching style is based on that premise. I enjoy interacting with students and I think it shows in the energy and encouragement I bring to the job. Listening is at least as important in my job as talking. I like to use questions to probe for understanding of conceptual underpinnings rather than just application and let the answers inform my plan to advance my students’ progress.

I was awarded the full tuition Ingram Scholarship to Vanderbilt for my MBA, as well as the Bruce D. Henderson Scholarship for maintaining the highest GPA in the program. I was also awarded the Matt Wigginton award for outstanding achievement in Finance and the Dean H. Igor Ansoff leadership award for my work as a TA and tutor.
