"Hi everybody!
I'm Grant! I graduated Cum Laude from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and an emphasis on Spanish. During this time, I studied abroad in the beautiful state of Oaxaca, Mexico, where I took language immersion courses at the Universidad Autonoma de Benito Juarez de Oaxaca where I achieved a 10 average (equivalent to a 4.0 GPA). After graduating from college I moved back to Oaxaca to continue my pursuit of Spanish Learning. I was additionally hired as a professor at Universidad de Benito Juarez de Oaxaca, where I taught English Pronunciation to Spanish speakers entirely in Spanish. I currently work as a Probation Officer, where I have been certified through Alta to speak Spanish in my job. This was a huge accomplishment for me on my Spanish learning journey as I am legally recognized by the Colorado Judicial System as a fluent Spanish Speaker!
I have years of tutoring experience beginning in high school, where I tutored predominantly Middle School math on a 1 on 1 basis. I also worked as a Director for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver, where I helped to facilitate a program called "Power Hour" a program that works with groups of 10 to 20 children between the ages of 5 and 12 at a title 1 school on things such as reading, math, and English proficiency. As I mentioned above, I later spent 1 year teaching approximately 20 college aged students in Mexico and providing private English lessons on the side.
Phew, that was a mouthful! Now on to you! I'm passionate about teaching English and Spanish to people who feel like the traditional classroom setting isn't right for them. I was once in your shoes and I understand how Spanish and English are taught in schools and how a one size fits all approach doesn't work for everyone. I want to tailor my lessons specifically to you and the obstacles you find yourself encountering on the road to being bilingual. Please reach out to me with any questions and I hope we can get a lesson started soon!" less...
