"Hello, my name is Lauren , I am a graduate of Bowie State University with a degree in Child and Adolescent Studies. I have work in Maryland Public Schools as an interventionist for elementary math and reading. I was a tutor through the Cares ACT focusing on 3rd-5th grade math and reading. I love tutoring it allows me to come up with interactive and exciting ways to teach topics that students would not typically enjoy in the school setting. The excitement of a student when they understand a topic that they have been having difficulties with is what makes tutoring so exciting. I have also worked with students with learning disabilities along with physical disabilities.

Working with Elementary age students and watching how they spell words the way they sound, simply breaking it down for them in fun creative ways. Although writing it 10 times each is effective we can also write it in paint and create funny stories to make it more interactive.

Coming from working in the CARES ACT program virtually and then turning around and tutoring during the summer in person. The adjustment I was able to make with the students who needed more assistance during the summer and really helping them understand school can be fun.

My motto is "for the kids". Simply whatever it takes to make sure they are thriving and succeeding. I am the type of person who thinks outside the box and with the transitioning of going back to school in person for some I understand it can be challenging but if I can make learning something they enjoy and they are achieving then I believe my job has been completed." less...
