"I love teaching, and I've taught and tutored in numerous formats for over 20 years now. I have a PhD from Brown and a BA from Harvard, both in Applied Mathematics. I've taught Math, Computer Science, Statistics and Data Science at places like UC-Berkeley, Brown, University of San Francisco, and the Metis Data Science Bootcamp. I currently consult and teach corporate training classes for companies large and small in Data Science / Machine Learning. I am a regular speaker / presenter at ODSC (Open Data Science Conference).

When not teaching and consulting, I am active in research (publishing in academic journals / conferences), open source code development (I'm the author of 3 Python packages), and creating content for my data science themed YouTube Channel. I also spend a lot of time raising my two young daughters to be amazing people (and perhaps excellent mathematicians as well!).

For me, teaching is an art, where you have to be able to explain a concept from various points of view. Everyone has a different learning style, so it is important to be able to mix different approaches to reach students. I always try to "level set" with each student - find out where they are comfortable, where they are stuck, and make sure they understand the foundational concepts before trying to explain the more advanced ones.
