"Hello students! My name is Riley S., I'm a guy with a curiosity about the world and a passion for education. I studied world history at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with focuses on the Middle East, Africa and the United States. I believe that we cannot change our present or move into our future without understanding the history that came before us.

After graduating college, I wanted to see the world and serve others so I joined the Peace Corps. I served in Malawi, a small country in southeastern Africa. I was an education volunteer, teaching English at a secondary school in the southern region of the country. I led classes of up to 150 students, so I have experience working in the toughest conditions with the most rewarding outcomes. My experience in the Peace Corps encouraged my desire to teach students and foster their curiosities about the world around them. I look forward to working with you on any projects big or small!

I have had a passion for History since I was young because it tells the story of all people sharing the Earth together. I believe if someone wants to be an engaged citizen, they must not only know the story of their own country, but how that story fits into the larger picture of nations. I am qualified to be your history or social studies tutor because I studied a wide range of topics in college; not only history, but also international studies and politics. I'm always trying to learn more on these topics and am always reading a new book or article on historical events or social issues. I look forward to sharing my passion with you during our sessions.
