"I am a former high school Chemistry and Physics teacher looking to tutor on the side.

My educational background includes a Bachelors degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Masters' degree from UMass Amherst, both in Chemical Engineering.

My experience as a teacher has been a real asset to me in my tutoring work. It has allowed me to hone in on the various factors that may be affecting a students performance in their classes. My main priority while working with a student is to learn the subject matter by building a fundamental understanding of the concepts, organize the main ideas, and applying them to various problems. Additionally, though, I like to look into why a student is struggling. Certain factors such as difficulty with organizing papers and advocating for oneself to the classroom teacher are often significant reasons for having difficulty with a subject. I find it helpful to identify these non-subject related problems and work on them with my students while working on the material.

My style as a tutor is relationship focused. I want to build a positive relationship with all my students. School can be hard at all levels for a lot of different reasons, but I find that caring about my students success can be really helpful.
