"Having been born and raised in Montreal, Canada, I grew up speaking and writing in French. I attended French schools all of my life which means I have more than just a few years of French learning but my whole education was immersed in French only. Not only can I say I speak French but lived in a French cultural environment. I spoke English too because my father was British which means that I learned how to translate back and forth between the two languages (that was very helpful at my jobs in Montreal). Once in College, I minored in French while majoring in the Arts and Graphic Design. The minor consisted of reading and studying about all the great writers such as Victor Hugo, Emile Zola, Albert Camus, Beaudelaire, etc.
While working in Montreal, I was the proofreader for French and English for all the graphic design brochures I designed and printed. Therefore, my French is considered university level.
I have tutored one to one in Montreal as well as in Los Angeles. I have a passion tutoring others the French language for I enjoy seeing them speaking my mother tongue. My focus is on practical application, that is, the student will learn French conversation as opposed to only vocabulary and grammatical rules. He or she will also learn French expressions spoken by Francophones. I offer hands-on practical exercises for day to day conversations in French as well as learning writing skills. I try to make learning French challenging but fun at the same time.
I also need to mention here that I also tutor computer software courses on the Mac such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign including Acrobat. I have a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design and have taught one to one courses to students at their home. Preferably, the student should have a Mac of their own, but I do have a laptop in case the need arises.
Also, having earned a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, I can also tutor drawing classes in charcoal, pencil, and garandache (water color pencils)." less...
