"Hello everyone!

My name is Puru and I I love to teach and it really motivates me when a student is able to understand concepts better and learn to apply them in different ways. I have an educational background in Astrophysics (with Honors), Mathematics and Cognitive Sciences. Following this, I completed my master's degree in Software Engineering in 2022, and currently work as a Data Analyst for an Environmental technology company. I started tutoring during my Freshman in college by assisting professors during lab courses and during recitation sections of their courses. I realized the importance of communicating complex concepts in an engaging and meaningful way. I began to tutor and teach in a way in which I would like to be taught: connecting concepts with real life examples, performing simple demonstrations if necessary and best of all - offering tips and tricks to digest more complicated methods and formulas. This becomes especially important in subjects such as math and physics. Eventually, I also transferred and transformed my tutoring to high school students in their AP level math courses and SAT Test Prep.

I recognize that every student learns at their own pace, which I am really considerate towards. I have been tutoring AP level math courses, college level math courses and SAT Prep as a freelancer for more than 3 years. I have taught more than 10 (3-4 student sized) groups in Math and test prep along with more than 20 one-on-one students. They have observed better grades and test scores and above all, leave with more familiarity, comfort and confidence with understanding complex topics.

Another aspect of my teaching I believe benefits my tutees is my philosophy of going above and beyond. I give students time to practice during our sessions, give them extra practice materials when necessary or requested and am available to promptly respond to them via email and phone.
