My Experience:

I've taught English for 12+ consecutive years in countries including Japan, Mexico, and Brazil. I have a B.A. in Anthropology and a 120-Hour TEFL English Certificate. I began with primary/secondary school in Japan, and then graduated to Business English with adults where I worked alternating for three different schools. I began a successful new English program at a Japanese tutoring service company where I taught customized lessons to new students. I then taught industry professionals Business English in Mexico at the largest school in the region. I have taught in person, in public schools, on-site at companies, online, and in every other format you can imagine.

My Approach:

I create customized lessons for your specific needs based on an evaluation of your current strengths/weaknesses. I focus on communicative/situation-based learning, using scenarios to help structure the language. I also use high-quality materials and textbooks as aids.

Additionally, I've learned that memorizing a new language can be achieved better via an associated emotional response, so I like to use a lot of media (comedy/drama TV series clips, movies, etc.) in my lessons to improve language acquisition.

I studied Japanese full-time at a Japanese Language Institute in Southern Japan where I graduated with a Language Certificate. I lived and worked in Japan for 9 years. My knowledge is extensive and based on real experience from real relationships with Japanese in Japan.

Let me share my knowledge and experience of Japan with you! I teach beginner-to-intermediate lessons using a variety of coursebooks, along with media such as videos, TV, etc. I teach Hiragana, Katakana, and also Kanji.
