"Hi, I’m Marisa! I graduated with high honors from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry, and afterward I worked for two years as a research scientist. If there’s one thing I like even better than doing science myself, though, it’s sharing it with others! I would love to work as your tutor and help translate abstract ideas into the language of your own interests. As your tutor, I will present concepts to you in an interesting way, bringing in physical objects whenever possible to bridge the digital divide. I will also work through practice problems with you and help you review your homework. Each session will be conducted based on your own needs and requests.

I taught math and science as a classroom teacher to middle schoolers for two years, as well as teaching part-time as a high school teacher for a year. As a teacher, I tutored my students before and after school who struggled with material. I tutored not only math in this setting, but earth science, history, and English. I also have worked periodically for ten years as a freelance tutor, working with students one-on-one (from middle school to college aged) on math from arithmetic to algebra to calculus, chemistry, and physics.
