"Hi! I'm Star :) I was born and raised in los angeles, but moved to Anchorage, Alaska in Sept. 2013. After moving back to California eight years ago, San Diego became my new home. I have a dog named Arley; she likes to eat flies, dig holes, and go on walks around the neighborhood.

I teach 6th grade Math & Science in El Cajon & enjoy hanging out with my students every day. I have the best job ever! I also tutor a 7th grader, Logan, who is awesome! Before teaching sixth grade, I co-taught first grade at Anza Elementary, fifth grade at Naranca Elementary, and third grade at James Porter Elementary.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy and Spanish at Mount St. Mary's University in Los Angeles. These degrees helped me get into and complete my first year at California Western School of Law here in SD. I decided to follow my passion for teaching and switched career paths to pursue a Master's Degree in Teaching and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential both at the University of Southern California in LA.

Math gets a bad rap, I get it, but honestly... you can master it and learn to love it! I can help with both!

My favorite thing to watch on Netflix are nature documentaries! Science is so much fun and the world around us has so many mysteries to unveil. Ever wondered why the ocean tide changes throughout the day? That's science! Or how the Sun keeps us warm? That's science, too!

Spanish was my first language, went to school in Mexico for three years, majored in Spanish in college, and worked as an interpreter/translator in the mental health sector in Los Angeles. I enjoy helping others explore (and love) my home language!

I am a perpetual student and strive to instill in my student this very love for education. If you want to learn and want to make it fun, I've got you! :)" less...
