"I am currently a college student pursuing a degree in Finance, with a strong foundation in reading and writing. I passed all of my AP English and literacy exams in high school with scores of 4 out of 5 and earned a 34 out of 36 on the ACT reading and writing sections. During my time at Rio Rancho High School, I worked as a peer tutor, helping students with reading comprehension, essay structure, and writing fluency.
I specialize in essay work and homework aid—helping students plan, organize, and improve their writing from brainstorming to final drafts. I teach students how to build clear thesis statements, support ideas with evidence, include quotes effectively, and create strong flow between paragraphs. I also work with students on reading comprehension beyond the surface level, helping them identify deeper meanings, themes, and the author’s purpose. This leads to stronger, more thoughtful essay responses.
Some of the methods and skills I use include: brainstorming techniques, outlining structure, thesis-building exercises, identifying supporting evidence, using hook and conclusion strategies, building transitions, and improving writing based on rubrics. I often teach using the hamburger paragraph model, graphic organizers, color-coded revision, and peer review simulations that help students think like a teacher when editing their own work.
I truly believe reading and writing are skills that anyone can learn. I struggled with them myself when I was younger, so I understand how frustrating they can feel. But I’ve learned it’s not about being naturally good, it’s about learning the right approach and applying it consistently. From 5th grade to high school, I help students build confidence, structure, and skills they carry for the rest of their lives." less...
