"My name is Jeff. I am an attorney from Wisconsin with a passion for teaching and tutoring. I discovered tutoring about three years ago when I took a job at a local Mathnasium, tutoring kids ages 6-18 in math. I fell in love with the work, and have been exploring the world of individual tutoring ever since. Over the past three years, I have taught kids in every major subject area including mathematics, writing and reading, biology, chemistry, physics, statistics, and history, among other subjects - I love it all.
My extensive academic background gives me the tools necessary to help any student. In college, I majored in both theoretical mathematics and history. In addition, I was pre-med for my first two years. After earning my undergraduate degree, I graduated from law school, refining my writing, reading, and oral communication skills. I have also passed or excelled at almost every major high school standardized test including the SAT, ACT, and 14 AP exams (Calculus, Statistics, Physics B, Physics C Electromagnetism, Physics C Mechanics, Biology, Chemistry, English Literature, English Language, Microeconomics, Environmental Science, U.S. History, World History, and European History). Frankly, the diversity of my skill set is relatively unparalleled, and my background gives me a unique ability to help kids and young adults succeed.
Lastly, I believe in collaborative tutoring through open communication with my students. I believe that every student is unique, and the ideal tutoring process should be tailored to the student's individual needs. I build relationships with my students premised on building a comfortable environment to encourage greater work output and overall success. I also implement intermittent training techniques designed to encourage a fun and engaging working dynamic as opposed to more rigorous or militaristic styles. I offer a laid back approach designed to foster comfort and confidence to promote long term success." less...
