"Hi my name is Sasha! I graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry and am currently a polymer science and engineering PhD student at UMass Amherst. As an undergrad, I had 2 years of experience peer tutoring general chemistry for nursing and sciences students. When working with students we often tailored our sessions based on need wether it be test prep, learning how to work through problems or understanding topics.

As a hands on learner I empathize with students who need a different approach to learning chemistry. My goal as a tutor is to always provide a comfortable and encouraging space to learn chemistry. Typically I prepare for sessions by going over the goal for the student as well as the topic that we will be discussing. During a session I usually go over the concept to make sure the student is secure with the topic and then we solidify concept with practice problems. As test prep, I’ve also made mind maps with students and helped to plan and execute study plans to excel on exams.

I always encourage students to show me any class or supplemental material they have prior to the session to best help me tailor our lesson and the problems we do together to best benefit them.
