"Hi there! I'm Maggie, a scientist with a PhD in genetics and gene expression. My dissertation involved the study of gene expression differences between sexes in Drosophila melanogaster. My research involved extensive work in classical and molecular genetics.
I was a teaching assistant for the third-year-undergraduate level genetics course at Wayne State University for 6 years. I guided students through the principles on mendelian and non-mendelian genetics, problem solving of pedigrees and statistics, and cleaning up scientific writing. During class time, I put emphasis on how to approach problems during a test, and imparting ideas on what I thought were the most effective ways to study the material. Finally, I aimed to create a space that was kind and comfortable, to encourage students to ask questions and make mistakes (and learn from them!)
I would love to help make you confident in your genetics or introductory biology courses! Please feel free to reach out." less...
