"Hi - my name is Owen and I'm a current 2nd year PhD student at UT's Institute for Geophysics. My research focuses on using physics-based ice sheet models and applied math methods to understand ice sheet changes in Antarctica and Greenland. For undergrad, I went to Dartmouth College where I graduated with honors and a degree in geological engineering.

My educational focus is on making the pursuit of STEM knowledge approachable and useful by giving lots of examples and trying to relate whatever we're discussing to the student's everyday life. I know that not every student loves learning math and science from the get-go, but I truly believe that everyone is capable of picking up problem-solving skills that'll make them more excited and curious. I have a year of educational experience from being a teaching assistant for Climate, Water, and Environment and Sustaining a Planet at UT. For these college courses, I facilitate lab experiences, help students one-on-one during office hours, and grade assignments and exams.

STEM wasn't always an easy journey for me, and I definitely needed extra help at points during my years in middle school, high school, and college. Now that it's my turn to help students struggling in these courses, I'm sure to give them as much support as possible. I am easy to communicate with and hope to give fast responses.
