"I have a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Colorado at Boulder where I learned to teach in the introductory chemistry and quantitative analysis (analytical chemistry) laboratories. I had taught Introductory Chemistry for three years at Union College as an adjunct professor (part time) and as a visiting professor (full time short term contract). As a high school student many years ago, I achieved perfect or nearly perfect grades on a number of my math and science Regents exams and on various other exams. I am available to help you become more proficient in those areas of high school or introductory college chemistry that you are having difficulty with. I can also help you with algebra or trigonometry concepts and math word problems since that type of math is used very much in my teaching of science.
I would expect you to tell me before or during our first session what specific areas you are needing the most help in. You should not expect me to directly answer any homework problems that may have been assigned to you by your teacher or professor, as that would constitute academic dishonesty. I can, however, explain similar problems and how you would set them up and work out their solutions. I can explain concepts to you in ways that your teacher or professor may not have done so as to hopefully make them more understandable to you. It is really about you asking me your questions and me explaining things to you until you feel good that you really understand the material. If you do not understand right away, that's okay, as I am very patient and will work with you to help you along, even if that means taking smaller steps to get to the end result.
Besides chemistry, algebra, and trigonometry, I am available to help those who may be interested in basic computers or computer programming or working with programs such as Microsoft Excel. I have a lot of work experience in these areas, too." less...
