"Hi, I'm Jessie, and I am excited to help students learn more about Geographic Information Systems (GIS). I graduated from North Carolina State University in 2025 with an M.S. of Geospatial Information Science and Technology. I have experience applying GIS tools and spatial analysis to a variety of topics including public safety, environmental health, municipal planning, and public utilities. I am especially excited about applying GIS to natural resources field as a result of my undergraduate degree. I graduated from North Carolina State University in 2019 with a B.S. of Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology and a minor in Environmental Health.

Currently, I am working as a full-time GIS manager, and I have been in my role for four years. In my position, I hire GIS Technicians with varying levels of experience, and I mentor them as they grow in the GIS-field. The Technicians are typically new college graduates that have some GIS course experience, but they require some technical guidance along the way. As anyone who works with GIS knows, sometime the smallest things can become the biggest headache. I'm here to help students avoid the headache! Sometimes all it takes it patiently working through workflows multiple times until the student is comfortable.
