"I am a lifelong musician with over 35 years of experience playing guitar and bass guitar, and more than 20 years of experience teaching music. Throughout my career, I have worked with children, teens, and adults in both one-on-one lessons and small group settings. I enjoy helping students of all ages build skills, confidence, and a genuine appreciation for music, whether they are just beginning or looking to deepen their understanding.
My educational background includes college coursework in music theory and music production, along with extensive independent study. This combination has given me a strong theoretical foundation as well as a practical, real-world understanding of how music works. I use this knowledge to help students understand not just what to play, but why it works, making concepts such as rhythm, scales, chords, and harmony clear and approachable.
My teaching approach is patient, supportive, and tailored to each individual learner. I begin by assessing a student’s current skill level and goals, then introduce new concepts step by step, reinforcing learning through guided practice and application. I strive to create a low-pressure, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring new ideas, and making steady progress.
Please feel free to reach out if you would like to discuss your learning goals. I am happy to answer questions and work with you to create a plan that fits your interests and experience level. I look forward to supporting your continued growth as a musician." less...
