Hi there! I’m Zoë, a current undergraduate at Harvard University majoring in biomedical engineering. When I shot my sights for a private school, I did so because of the small classes they prided themselves on, which allows students to have close relationships with their professors and ample tutoring opportunities. During my first year in undergrad, I spent much of my time in office hours in order to get one-on-one clarification of subjects. I found that the best way I learned was through visualization, and tutors that explained things using the board tended to get the point across to me the best.

As a result, the first thing I do as a tutor is understand my student’s learning style so that my lessons are best suited to them. I also place emphasis on communication about what issues they may be having with a specific topic so we can understand where they may be best helped. I love teaching my students both what they don’t know, and how they can learn more efficiently for the future. Finally, I always aim for my lessons to feel more like a conversation than a lecture, I love hearing feedback and getting to know my students!

I have 2 years of experience tutoring in maths, including geometry, algebra 1 and 2, pre-cal, and calculus 1, 2, and 3. I competed in academic competitions throughout my high school career that consisted of difficult timed tests, and it allowed me to become a strong test taker. Furthermore, I competed in calculator applications, which allowed me to learn calculator strategies for the math portion of the SAT that are not common knowledge. I learned through continuous coaching the best way to approach problems in a timed setting, and managed to achieve a 1580 on the first official SAT I took. I then spent one year tutoring other student on the SAT and PSAT.

I respond quickly- send me a message so that we can see if I’m a good fit!" less...
