"Hello! I'm Scott, a patient and encouraging tutor with a passion for helping students build confidence and succeed in math and English. With degrees from Stanford and Harvard, I have a strong academic foundation and years of professional experience in educational settings. I offer tutoring for elementary math, pre-algebra, and algebra, as well as English as a Second Language (ESL). My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and we can work together to master challenging concepts.
My experience is both practical and diverse. For math students, I draw on my experience teaching pre-algebra and statistics in a professional development program in Singapore and assisting graduate students at Harvard with statistical analysis and Excel. I am skilled at breaking down complex problems into simple, understandable steps. For my ESL students, I bring real-world international experience, having worked extensively in Latin America and Asia. I currently help teach an online ESL class, am fluent in Spanish, and understand firsthand the journey of learning a new language.
In my professional career as a director at one of Harvard's research centers, I was responsible for managing complex programs and mentoring staff, skills I now apply to my tutoring. I believe every student learns differently, and I am dedicated to tailoring my approach to fit your unique needs and learning style. Whether you're tackling algebra for the first time or working to improve your English conversation skills, I am here to provide clear, patient, and effective guidance. I look forward to connecting with you and helping you or your child achieve your academic goals." less...
