"I’m Shea! I graduated from Harvard University with a double concentration in Applied Mathematics and Chemistry & Physics, and I am now pursuing my Ph.D. in Chemical Physics at Columbia University. Along the way, I earned a perfect score on the ACT, which gave me first-hand insight into what it takes to succeed on standardized tests. My background in both advanced STEM subjects and test preparation allows me to help students strengthen their academic foundations while also learning strategies that lead to higher scores.
My teaching experience spans both classroom and one-on-one settings. At Harvard, I served as a teaching assistant for courses in mathematics, chemistry, statistics, and economics, consistently receiving excellent evaluations from students (average 4.8/5). I’ve led lecture-style sections, guided small discussion groups, and held individual office hours, supporting learners at many levels. Beyond the university, I’ve tutored high school students in SAT/ACT prep and STEM coursework, and I understand how to adapt my methods to meet the needs of different ages and learning styles.
When I tutor, I focus on clarity, confidence, and connection. I break down complex concepts into understandable steps while always tying them back to the bigger picture. For test prep, I emphasize not only content knowledge but also pacing, problem-solving strategies, and confidence under pressure. My goal is to help each student feel capable and prepared, whether that means achieving a top SAT/ACT score or finally having chemistry and physics “click” for the first time." less...
