"I'm Sophie! I recently graduated from Harvard University with my bachelor's degree in Music and Government (becoming one of the first double majors to graduate from Harvard). I absolutely love helping my students express themselves clearly and powerfully in English! I tutor middle school through college-level and business writing and reading comprehension, English as a second language (ESL), college and music conservatory applications (I was accepted to Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Juilliard, and more), school presentations, beginning to intermediate French, and more. I also achieved near-perfect college placement test scores (1580 SAT, 36 ACT).

All types of writing, from personal essays, including college applications, to analytical work, argument, or business writing are my speciality. I help students brainstorm, organize their thoughts, conduct research, improve their flow, cite sources appropriately, copy edit, and avoid plagiarism. I am experienced in tutoring writing for a wide range of arts and humanities fields. I also help students develop reading comprehension skills in preparation for standardized testing and other challenges.

I have more than 1,250 hours' one-on-one experience tutoring ESL online and in person, mostly to foreign business professionals and students. I have helped countless English learners improve their writing, practice interviews and presentations, and find their flow in conversation, opening up new opportunities in their careers! In an ESL session with me, we can discuss an article, review your writing, or just have a free conversation. At the end of the lesson, you will receive a detailed document with errors you made, suggested paraphrasing, and ideas for improvement.
