"I'm Matt! I am a graduate of Harvard University with honors in English. I've been writing professionally for over 15 years (including on Emmy-nominated shows such as "House, M.D."), tutoring SAT and essay prep for 20 years, and teaching English and creative writing for the past 5 years, including at Mirman School for highly gifted children in Los Angeles. As a professional storyteller and teacher, I am uniquely suited to helping students shine in all their work — not only in SAT and ISEE prep, but also in application essays and interviews.

For tests, I help each student build confidence through strong, consistent, and organized preparation. The harder each student works, the better they do. To achieve this improvement, I make each lesson fun, varying material and using patience and encouragement to build a safe space of trust and growth. For personal essays and interview prep, I encourage students to 'dig deeper' within themselves to articulate all of their strengths in an honest and winning way. The strongest essays are simply high-definition, symphonic versions of one's best inner character, and I help each student work to find that best part of themselves and then make it shine on the page.
