"Hello! My name is Melissa. I graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University in 2025 with a degree in Psychology, and I am now pursuing my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Oregon State University. My academic achievements reflect not only a strong understanding of diverse subjects, but also discipline and effective study strategies.
As a teaching assistant at OSU, I have received formal training in effective teaching practices. I also previously volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters, mentoring elementary school students, and co-founded the Harvard Undergraduate Disability Justice Club, where I served as co-president. These experiences have taught me to connect with learners of all ages and accommodate a wide range of learning needs and disabilities.
I have guided many high school students in crafting standout résumés and college essays, with most gaining admission to their top-choice schools, and I hope to continue this work. I also hope to work with elementary schoolers again, particularly to help them strengthen their reading, writing, and study skills.
My tutoring style is rooted in patience, encouragement, and adaptability. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. For me, tutoring is not only about teaching -- it’s also about mentoring and empowering students to become more resilient and confident. Whether preparing for exams, applying to colleges, or building productive study habits, I am committed to helping students reach their goals." less...
