"Hi! My name is Kyra. I'm a second year MD student at Harvard Medical School with experience tutoring students through the medical school application process, including essay writing, interview prep, and strategizing a school list.
I'm originally from Los Angeles and attended Washington University in St. Louis for my undergrad, where I graduated summa cum laude with a degree in art history and philosophy. In college, I worked in several medical research labs and loved working in the community, organizing events for kids with neurodevelopmental disorders. I also gained teaching and editorial experience as a speaker coach for my school's TEDx chapter and as a TA. After graduating, I spent two years in New York City conducting healthcare policy and delivery research while applying to medical school. I'm now loving my second year of medical school at Harvard.
My medical school application process was successful largely because of the detail-oriented and straightforward feedback that my friends and mentors provided. I interviewed at more than ten top programs and received admissions offers from most, including Hopkins, Harvard, Stanford, and UPenn. I believe that anyone can achieve similar success with hard work and dedicated support. After mentoring prospective students through the cycle this past year, I am excited to help more students succeed.
Successful medical school applicants are those who tell an honest, passionate, and persuasive story about who they are. Our lessons will focus on identifying strong narrative threads that tie your experiences together and workshopping your writing to best communicate them. I want to be as helpful to you as possible, so we will work together to create an application timeline, brainstorm essay writing strategies, and design a collaboration strategy. I commit fully to my students and strive to build trusting, safe, and honest relationships with them - no one should go through the application process alone!" less...
