"Hello, my name is Cassie. I teach kindergarten and have experience working academically with students up to 12 years old (6th grade). I also have a great deal of experience in working with students with special needs, including those on the spectrum, students with ADHD and specific learning disorders. My education is in psychology but I have been teaching for several years now and enjoy the opportunity I have been given to provide a thriving learning environment for my students.

In teaching/providing support in the area of reading for lower elementary age students, I use a wide variety of techniques. I use a phonics based approach and have been trained to teach students to read by learning to sound out to spell and sound out to blend CVC (consonant/vowel/consonant) words to start. I also have a proven record of helping students successfully progress to recommended reading levels by grade at a steady pace. Many of the students I teach are at a higher level than expected by the end of the school year. I give a lot of positive reinforcement and feedback and believe in proving lots of praise to my students. I work to help develop their confidence in areas they are weak in, resulting in them developing a love for academic subjects they may have struggled with previously.
