I have been teaching fifth grade for seven years, and I enjoy it more with each passing year - watching students grow in their understanding and confidence and ultimately enjoying the act of learning itself is very rewarding. I love math and understand numbers, so I can explain concepts in multiple ways to help students recognize how math functions. I am also a big fan of English - whether it's diagramming, or reading, or practicing spelling, understanding English opens up worlds of information and possibilities!

When I'm not helping other children, I'm spending time with my own. Whether it's an evening of working on homework or a weekend of activities, I enjoy this time with my family and try to come up with fun ways of making new memories.

I've been trained in Singapore and common core, and I am familiar with various different ways to find solutions to equations. Math isn't "problems" because that implies you have to try and work through it. Math is a puzzle! Where you have all the pieces and now you have to make it fit in a way that makes sense!

I am certified in Spalding, I can teach diagramming, and I know Greek and Latin roots, allowing a solid foundation for recognizing and finding meanings of words, even if it's never been seen before. Diagramming sentences can be so much, especially when the sentence is very dense, or very long. Helping students recognize the break-down of sentences or words is a fun task to share, and it helps the young scholars appreciate just how to read, spell, and say whatever words are put in front of them.
