"Graduate-level professor of creative arts including writing, photography and filmmaking,
I am an author of both fiction and self-help books that have sold over 7-millions copies to-date, owned a successful magazine and book publishing company since 1970, and currently producing mainstream movies.
I have mentored and tutored highly successful writers, models, photographers and publishers (an example being the owner/publisher of 5280 Magazine learned publishing when working for my company then using skills learned working with me to go on to be a successful publisher).
I work best with motivated students who wish to make creative arts their primary source of income..
My Tutoring Approach
No matter what level of accomplishment or skill you are at, I first learn what you’ve done, and explore where you want to go and what you wish to accomplish. That allows us to both define objectives and a plan on achieving your goals.
I prefer to share knowledge where I am a guide. I am a professor by nature. At universities, undergraduates will most often attend classes with instructors who tell students how to do something. They instruct. A professor at the graduate level why things are done. As a professor I can show how to do something, but most important, cover why something is done and various ways to accomplish goals. An example would be writing prose. An instructor would show the way prose is written. As professor, I would help you learn why prose is the style used in classic literature and how it makes complex subjects simple, direct and elegant when reading. Knowing the “why” is a key method to mastering any creative pursuit.
Students have rated me as calm, patient, and good at listening and open to ideas. I am a partner in reaching a goal, there with you, and my success is when you feel you’ve learned what you wished." less...
