"My name is Shuaib, and I am currently a Biology major on the pre-med track at George Mason University. I previously attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST), which helped me develop a strong foundation in science, math, and disciplined study habits. My academic background and interest in medicine have shaped the way I approach learning and teaching, with a strong emphasis on understanding concepts clearly rather than memorization, especially for high school–level science and math courses.
I have several years of experience tutoring and mentoring students in one-on-one settings. During middle school and high school, I regularly tutored elementary students in reading and math, helping them build confidence with foundational skills and improve their comprehension. In college, I have worked with high school students on writing and refining their college application essays, guiding them through brainstorming, structure, clarity, and revision. My tutoring style is patient, structured, and adaptive to each student’s pace, and I focus on breaking down material into manageable steps so students feel comfortable asking questions.
In addition to one-on-one tutoring, I volunteered as a Sunday school teacher at my local mosque in high school, where I taught elementary and middle school aged students in a classroom setting. This experience strengthened my ability to manage groups, explain concepts clearly to younger learners, and adjust my teaching style to different learning needs. Overall, I am passionate about helping students learn, grow, and gain confidence in their abilities, especially in biology, chemistry, math, and academic skills that prepare them for long-term success." less...
