"Hi, I'm Emmalyn and I'm excited to be here and make new tutoring connections! I graduated from Mount Holyoke College magna cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and my Initial Teaching License. I spent my time there on the Varsity Equestrian team as a student-athlete, and was well-known as the team Chemistry tutor :) I tutored many of my friends/teammates to help them through various College Chemistry classes. I always had a passion for education and knew I wanted to be a teacher, but those experiences solidified that career path and an additional passion for small-group/one-on-one tutoring. I love helping students have those a-ha moments where they figure something out that they never thought they would be able to. Through my experience tutoring and teaching, I've learned that everyone learns differently, and the way I was taught won't work for everyone, so I have worked and will continue to work to expand the ways to explain a concept or skill to find ways that will work for everyone.

I am currently a high school Chemistry teacher and have had many of these moments with my current classes, but would like to continue my passion for tutoring specifically, in a variety of subjects, including Chemistry, Psychology, Algebra (various levels) and other math classes. I'd love to use my passion for these subjects, as well as for teaching in general to help others learn to love (or at least tolerate;)) these subjects.

I always want students to feel comfortable asking questions and know that their input is invaluable to having a fun and successful experience for all involved. Connecting new content to previous knowledge or real-life experiences is the best way to make new concepts manageable, so that's an approach I like to use in both my teaching and tutoring.
