"Hey! My name is Miraya and I graduated this past May from Emory University with a B.S. in Biology and B.A. in Women's, Gender, and Sexualities Studies. In undergrad, I took all the premed required classes and I have developed a strong understanding of how to do well in college level Gen Chem, Intro Physics, and Biology courses. As a result, I feel confident working with high schoolers in introductory or college preparatory AP/IB classes, emphasizing which concepts are important for both their success in the class and in future college courses.
I have also recently taken the MCAT and scored in the 95th percentile, so I have done multiple passes through the content in these courses and feel confident breaking down complex ideas. I have experience as a Physics tutor in undergrad, and I loved being able to work 1:1 with students to build their confidence in challenging topics. My approach to teaching is that mindset is one of the most important factors in determining academic success. I also approach tutoring as a collaborative process with my students and focus on developing their foundational and big-picture understanding before tackling details.
I have prior experience tutoring for AP & IB Chemistry as well as General Chemistry and Physics high school courses. After receiving A's in college level Biology, Gen Chem, Physics, and Biochemistry courses, I hope to help other students build their understanding and study habits to excel in their classes.
I bring lots of enthusiasm to my tutoring sessions and enjoy building a great relationship with each student. I care about my students' academic and professional goals, and would love to help them take one step closer to achieving them. If you're looking for a dedicated tutor who will help empower and encourage you through your classes, please feel free to reach out to schedule our first session." less...
