"I'm Vaunce! I currently teach High School Math, specifically Geometry. I taught Algebra II last year. I graduated with a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from Western Governors University in 2023 and earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Washington State University in 2021. I have over a year of experience of private in-home tutoring, where I guide and instruct clients on understanding and comprehending the concepts they struggle with. Specifically in Geometry, Algebra, Algebra II, and Business. Also, I have 2+ years of teaching Math full-time at secondary level and 6 years teaching PreK-12. I spent over a year and a good part of my teaching career working directly with challenged students who needed additional assistance or had IEPs and 504s.

While in university, I realized the classes I appreciated the most weren't the subjects that were the most interesting, but rather the instructors who made the classes enjoyable, as they were always engaging, passionate, and always willing to go the extra mile when I needed it. For my students, I always check 1 on 1 with them for understanding and to make learning personable. I aim to bring this same approach to my tutoring lessons and work in collaboration with the client to make learning a pleasant and valuable experience. I use lesson plans and a lesson frame to structure learning and make on-the-spot corrections, combined with formative assessments throughout the session. I introduce topics and concepts in a fun and creative way, compared to solely lectured material. I always plan and have time built in for students to practice the material on their own.
