"Hello and welcome to my profile! I am excited to start working together on math, statistics, study skills, and test prep. My tutoring style can be summed up with by the following: I Do, We Do, You Do. By first demonstrating how a particular problem or concept is tackled, and then working through similar problems together, I have found my students to be consistently successful in working through the problems on their own. I also find that connecting with a student about their hobbies and fun activities outside of school is key to successful tutoring.
As for my education, I recently attended the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs, pursuing an M.A. in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in statistics and research methods. Before that, I obtained my B.A. in Psychology from Metropolitan State University. Throughout my academic journey, I’ve been involved in various teaching and tutoring roles. At UCCS, I served as a Tutor for Statistics for Behavioral Sciences at the Math Center and as a Teaching Assistant for BioPsych. Additionally, I provided GED tutoring to teenagers who had a history of challenges with the legal system. I have been working independently as a tutor for the past several years tutoring high school students in PreCalc, Geometry, Algebra, Statistics, Study Skills, and Test Prep.
Beyond academia, I’ve gained valuable experience in the mental health field, working for three years as a Mental Health Practitioner where I served clients with severe and persistent mental illness. The tools that I developed in this role have greatly benefited my tutoring approach!
I’m an avid outdoor enthusiast with a passion for activities like camping, backpacking, hiking, kayaking, cycling, running, and tennis I also have a deep appreciation for music, both as a listener and creator, spanning genres from hip-hop and R&B to jazz, soul, funk, and prog-rock. I love exploring new places, reading, and spending quality time with family and friends." less...
