"Hello, my name is Dr. Veronica O. I hold a doctoral degree in biological sciences from Auburn University, Alabama. I am a gifted/STEM teacher, with over 24 years of teaching experience at the K-12 and post-secondary levels. I am fully certified to teach regular biology , AP Biology, AP Environmental Science. In addition, I am very efficient in teaching all Middle-School Sciences (Earth, Life, and Physical), college biology, human genetics, physiology, botany, zoology, cell biology, applied Nutrition, and Microbiology.

I am a very patient and effective tutor, who believes that every child is capable of learning if adequately educated and understood. Though I set very high expectations for my students, my personaiity and knowledge of the subjects allow me to engage/meet the student where they are, thus enhancing the learning process. My methodologies of instructions utilize the 5-Es (NGSS Standards) and Inquiry-Based Learning, where students learn to think critically to understand concepts. I believe that each student has a unique mode of learning, so I use the method most suited to the individual student (visuall, auditory, kinesthetic), while utilizing various tools (technology, books, stroylines, hands-on). I also provide opportunities to address questions from my students outside set tutoring hours- since learning is not a static process.

As a STEM teacher, I am very familar with the GSE Science Standards, and will be able to help/guide the student to become more proficient in science. Therefore, if a student is struggling with Middle School Science, High school/College biology; I am here to help. My vision is to teach and encourage students to understand basic concepts, build a strong science foundation, so that learning science becomes a fun encounter, rather than a struggle.
