"Hi! I am an enthusiastic classicist with over two decades of experience as both a classroom and online teacher and tutor. While still an undergraduate, the faculty of the Department of Classics selected me to teach an intensive beginning Latin course to other undergraduates. This course was an alternative to the traditional, semester-long Latin 101. At this same time, I began tutoring, working with both high schoolers and undergraduates. While in graduate school, I taught beginning and intermediate Latin courses to undergraduates. After receiving my master's degree, I taught at a private school for seven years, where I taught courses from beginning Latin all the way through to AP Latin. A high percentage (over 75%) of my AP students received a 5 on the AP Latin exam.

I received my BA in Latin language and literature from Oberlin College, and I received my master's in classics from the University of Virginia. I was awarded a merit-based fellowship from UVA.

I love to be able to help students to feel empowered with regard to the language. Though I always want my students to enjoy our time together, my approach is very much grounded in scholarship and academic rigor. I determine for each student the most effective ways to help them to master the Latin language and to engage more meaningfully with the material.

I tutor middle schoolers, high schoolers, and even college undergraduates. I have taught from a number of different textbooks over the years, and I am familiar with almost all of the primary textbooks used in Latin courses today. I am open to students of all levels of language study.
