"I am a highly experienced math tutor who specializes in helping middle and high school students gain confidence and understanding efficiently. Parents often seek me out when a student needs clear explanations, steady support, and an experienced tutor who can quickly identify what is not clicking.
I work with both ongoing students and those who need focused, short-term academic help. I regularly assist students with preparation for quizzes, unit tests, midterms, finals, and end-of-course exams. I do not provide college entrance test preparation (SAT, ACT, etc.), but I do offer targeted preparation for school-based math exams.
I have extensive experience supporting students with math anxiety, learning differences, or gaps in prior instruction. My approach is calm, structured, and supportive, with an emphasis on building real understanding rather than memorization.
My subjects include Pre-Algebra; Algebra 1 and 2; Geometry; NC Math 1, 2, 3, and 4; and Pre-Calculus.
I began tutoring as a volunteer math and reading tutor for inner-city youth in Baltimore and have since logged over 10,000 hours of tutoring experience, including work with Varsity Tutors and many in-person students. Prior to tutoring full-time, I spent nearly 20 years as a molecular biology and genetics researcher at Johns Hopkins and Duke. This background informs my logical, methodical teaching style and helps students see math as a tool for problem-solving.
My schedule is Monday through Friday, including weekends, from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time (10pm being the last available time slot)." less...
