Reading has always been my favorite subject and hobby. The best way to get a reluctant reader to read is to work with their interests. If they like comic books, start with that and build up.
I am Highly Qualified Teacher and have held a NH certification. I also have homeschooled my own two children.
To have a strong reading skills it is necessary to have a strong foundation in phonics. I have seen students struggle with reading and become frustrated because they lacked the phonetic skills.
