"Currently I am in my 15th year teaching high school social studies. My passion is in teaching students to think critically and to translate their ideas into future success. I believe History and Social Studies are powerful vessels for this as these subjects promote discussion and inspire students to effectively communicate their perspectives.

My teaching philosophy starts with meeting the students where they are. I pride myself in getting to know each of my students and building a relationship with each of them based on understanding and mutual respect. Through those relationships, I can help each student succeed in the classroom. A strong teacher-student relationship helps a student learn important communication and comprehension skills that encourage growth in their understanding of the essential topics. This in turn, provides the student with a strong base that will propel them forward in their future careers. My favorite aspect of education, is helping students reach that “aha” moment and sharing in their satisfaction of experiencing pride in their work.

My classes have exceeded the national pass rate each year I have taught AP Modern World and I have helped multiple students on this platform earn a 5 on the test. I also served as a reader during the summer of 2025 for the test and will use the training to help your student properly answer the free response questions." less...
