"I am in my 7th year of teaching and being able to help students learn and feel confident in what they're doing brings me a lot of joy. I earned my B.S.Ed. in Middle Grades Education from the University of Georgia with a concentration in Social Studies and English/Language Arts, went on to earn my M.Ed. from Kennesaw State University, and later completed my MBA at the University of West Georgia. I am certified to teach ELA (grades 4-8) and Social Studies (grades 4-12), and I'm also gifted certified. I've taught students from 6th grade through 12th grade in Georgia, and I've also worked in after-school programs and small-group tutoring. I have worked with many different types of learners over the years and it has helped me understand how to meet students where they are.

When I tutor, I like to make learning feel clear, doable, and even enjoyable. I use an "I do, we do, you do" approach, first I model the skill, then we work it together, and finally I give the student space to try it on their own with support. I love using graphic organizers and step-by-step guidance to help students organize their thoughts and really understand the material instead of just memorizing it. My goal is to build off what students already know and help them reach a place where they feel confident doing it independently, not just for one assignment, but in the long run.

Most importantly, I care about building real relationships with my students. Students don't care how much you know until they know you care. I'm down to earth, I listen, and I try to make sure students feel respected and supported. I hold high expectations, but I recognize student's pace, personality, and strengths. I mainly tutor online because it's convenient and flexible, but can do in-person if needed. At the end of the day, I want students to feel encouraged, capable, and proud of what they can do." less...
