"My love of teaching and tutoring comes from my interest of learning and helping others to learn. As a Dean’s List recipient and nominee for the USA All American Academic Team, I know that dedication and hard work helps students to succeed. I love working with students on a one to one basis because of the potential to help them learn quickly. I have worked with students in an academic setting for twenty years as a substitute teacher, teacher’s associate, and as a peer mentor in college.
I have a BS degree in Art Education and two Associates degrees in Graphic Communication and Web Technologies. I am currently working to finish my third Associate degree in Computer Support Technology. My relevant experience in helping students with studying and taking tests stems from my work history in professionally scoring student tests for Pearson and ACT. I scored a range of tests for students in grades 4 through college level and covered many topics such as English, science, history and aptitude tests for further college studies and medical school entrance examinations. I specialize in tutoring history, social studies, English, biology, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Photo Shop programs. I have taught and tutored students ages 7 to 22 and enjoy helping them perform at their highest level. Plus I have three years experience in working with students who have learning disabilities.
My tutoring approach is to look through student’s assignments, tests and quizzes to determine what the priority is. I support the student completing assignments on time, building confidence, and coming up with solutions of their own. I plan on reserving a space at my local library. However, I would be happy to travel to another location to make it more convenient for the student.
I am excited about helping students achieve their academic goals." less...
