"Hi! I’m Maura, a teaching artist, academic manager, and professional public speaker who loves helping students find their voice—through writing, theater, or public speaking. I’ve spent over 10 years tutoring K–college students, including homeschool learners across Los Angeles, and I tailor every session to each student’s learning style. I’m also a subject tutor for students in LAUSD, designing and teaching theater curriculum through LA Arts Group.
I specialize in creative writing, storytelling, theater, public speaking, and executive functioning skills, and I have extensive experience supporting neurodiverse students, helping them build confidence, organization, time management, and self-advocacy. One proud success: a client I’ve worked with for 8 years went from a homeschooled student to earning a Master’s in Psychology from UCLA.
I’m a theater teaching artist and performer, trained and performed at Second City, HB Studios, and the American Conservatory Theater, creating work in improv, sketch comedy, clown, devised theater, and stage performance. I coach students in devised theater, directing, and collaborative creation, guiding them to generate original work while strengthening communication and leadership skills.
I’m also a professional public speaker, leading speeches for BMW and facilitate improv trainings for therapists. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Veterinary Medicine, and I genuinely love tutoring science—especially helping students feel confident and curious instead of overwhelmed.
Above all, I’m passionate about empowering students to discover their own voice, express themselves, and thrive academically, creatively, and personally." less...
