"I am an enthusiastic humanities educator whose life-long love of learning has led me to invest most of my life in academic scholarship. I was homeschooled in the Classical Christian tradition, attended a Classical Christian College, and pursued and acquired a Bachelor's degree in Classics.
This degree took me through a rigorous and thorough study of the core subjects of the Classical Christian educational model. These subjects include English, grammar, writing, literature, history, philosophy, theology, Bible, and the Classical languages of Greek and Latin all of which I am very capable to tutor and teach.
While I was pursuing my undergraduate degree I was made the primary tutor for the humanities at the school, which position I held until I left the school with my degree. I then went on to pursue and acquire my Master's Degree in History, the subject in which I chose to specialize. While I was in graduate school, I had the opportunity to teach collegiate level classes and was commended for my "innate talent for teaching" by the professors who observed and supervised me. This is probably due to the fact that I love my subjects and sharing them with others.
I love tutoring because it offers the chance to focus on the unique needs of each individual because it does not take place in a large classroom setting. With classes of 20 and above in many school and college settings, there is often little room or time for ministering to the specific needs of all students. Tutoring can be an answer to this problem. I love it for this reason and cannot wait to see how I may meet the needs of any prospective learners either individually or in a small group. My methods for facilitating effective learning would be as follows. First, talking to the student(s) to get a feel for what their specific needs and goals are and what knowledge base they already possess on the given subject. Second, I would formulate lesson plans, activities, and quizzes/tests to take them further in the subject." less...
