"I spent most of my now longish life producing content for public broadcasting. In the course of that career, I have produced television programs on a vast array of subjects. Each of these programs gave me considerable knowledge of the subject matter of the program. My intent on going off to college was to be a music major, but I graduated with a degree in television production, spent many years as a television engineer before becoming a program producer director at the national level. I'm knowledgeable and comfortable teaching a wide variety of both technical and arts subject matter. I spent much of my career working on computer platforms, using productivity tools, and watching the digital world develop from infancy (when I began my career, electronic devices had tubes) I am also of an age where demonstrating competent communication including vocabulary and grammar were mandatory. As you might suspect from a professional communicator, my ability to teach reading, writing, composition, grammar and syntax, as well as literature is very polished.

I currently teach communications courses at the college level, but would feel comfortable working with a range of students beginning in junior high school through graduate school. I believe that learning should be fun (in fact I believe all of life should be fun, but that's another story…) and I have developed a wide bag of tricks to help communicate information to students with the minimum part of frustration for either of us. I have a 30-year-old child with Asperger's syndrome who was partially homeschooled, so I am pretty conversant with students who have issues that interfere with learning process although I would not characterize myself as a special education teacher.
