"I am a Harvard graduate with a Master's degree in Comparative Literature from N.Y.U.. As a graduate student, I held the Mellon Foundation Fellowship in the Humanities (a teaching fellowship). I love to help humanities writers of all ages liberate their unique voices via a deeper, more intuitive understanding of narrative and structure in various forms -essays, fiction, scripts, articles, you name it. There is no replacement for the human voice on the page. Learning to write is learning to think, which leads to success in academics and in life.
Personal narrative essays: I can consult holistically on applications to all schools, including graduate/professional. A published and produced writer myself, I have spent my professional life focusing on the communication of character through writing that is unforgettably authentic. I have an extensive background in performing arts and public speaking, so I can provide interview coaching.
High School and Middle School: I have about 6 years of experience tutoring across the humanities, for grade levels 5-12. My middle school math tutoring experience began when I home schooled my son (one-on-one) full time, teaching him in all subject areas, including accelerated 5th-7th grade math (New York State Common Core aligned). I am supportive, clear and goal-oriented. Believing in our students inspires them to do their best. I always find that creativity feeds achievement, so I enjoy students who bring unique perspectives and learning styles to the table.
Adults: I have worked for many years with professional writers and university students alike to develop creative and academic work, via a writers workshop group I founded 25 years ago." less...
