"As a chemistry major at Hastings College, I was offered a position to teach high school chemistry while finishing my undergraduate studies. There, I realized my love for teaching high school students! I had a blast doing fun experiments with kids, and making chemistry simple enough for anyone to understand. After graduating Hastings College with a B.A. in Chemistry, I went on to teach high school students in public and private school settings for four years, my most recent school being Pius X High School. I have had the privilege to teach advanced chemistry, which included college level topics such as organic chemistry as well as general chemistry, spanning an age range of sophomores to seniors in high school.

While teaching, I have tutored in various capacities. I started tutoring as a college senior when several parents approached me explaining that their students needed help. Since then, I have tutored several students in chemistry. My favorite memories are when students tell me how high their test scores go up after only a few tutoring sessions! I love to simplify chemistry concepts into steps, giving students several tips and tricks for memory of topics along the way. With a chemistry degree, I am very adept in almost every high school chemistry topic, as well as several college topics including organic chemistry. One positive in getting a chemistry degree has been that I know my subject so well that I can explain many topics in different ways in order to help the student in the way they learn best. For example, I have drawn diagrams for students, given dozens of practice problems and checked them, or explained a topic in terms of material items. I can explain topics in many ways to help students learn the content best with the realization that every student is different!
