"I have been interested in mathematics since I was in elementary school and I pursued my interest in mathematics at the undergraduate level and earned a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics at IUPUI (Now Purdue, Indianapolis). I attended graduate school at the University of Tennessee and earned 58 credit hours in graduate level mathematics, statistics, and computer science coursework. During this time, I was employed as a graduate research assistant. After leaving graduate school, I worked as a financial engineer and programmer for a startup.

Although I did work as a graduate TA during my time in graduate school (helping students with homework) my teaching career began at Bearden High School in the fall of 2023. I have taught Geometry, AP Computer Science Principles, and Cybersecurity. During that time I have tutored and worked with hundreds of young people between ages 14-18. I have taught in both a classroom setting and given many hours of one-on-one tutoring. I find that the most effective approach is to listen to a student carefully and identify their needs, their level of understanding, and to explain the problem at an appropriate level of complexity and detail, followed up with numerous examples until I can see that they are able to productively work a problem on their own.
