"Hello! I’m Kayla, a tutor and creative professional from Greenville, South Carolina, with a huge passion for public speaking, acting, theatre, and writing.
I began my journey on stage at the age of 14 through competitive Speech and Debate, where I quickly discovered the power of voice and storytelling. Throughout high school, I refined my skills and consistently placed first or second in every tournament I entered. That passion followed me into my undergraduate years at Winthrop University, where I studied Mass Communication and Theatre. By blending the art of performance with the science of communication, I concentrated on writing, producing, and directing.
During my time at Winthrop, I served as creative director for over 20 productions and worked as a writer and director for a campus-based improvisational group that performed at university-wide events. My dedication to public speaking and live performance led to my selection as the creative head for major campus live events, an experience that strengthened my leadership, collaboration, and creative vision.
That love for communication continues into my professional work today through my graduate studies in Communication Disorders and Speech. This unique background allows me to understand speaking from every angle: the artistry, the technical foundations, and the behind-the-scenes production that bring powerful communication to life.
As a tutor, my goal is to create a supportive, encouraging space where confidence can grow and voices can be discovered. Whether you’re preparing for a speech, exploring acting or theatre, strengthening your writing, or simply learning how to communicate more authentically, I am here to guide you. The world of speech is vast and exciting, and I would be honored to help you navigate it, while helping you find your voice along the way." less...
